If you or someone you know has fled domestic abuse and moved into an empty property, Simple Acts of Kindness can help. We provide essential household items - beds, bedding, kitchen goods, clothing, and furniture - completely free of charge, and we aim to respond within 24 hours of a referral.
The scale of the problem
We help women, men, and children who have fled domestic abuse and been placed in social housing that has nothing in it. We also help families who have lost their home due to fire or other emergencies. All of our support is completely free - there is no cost to the families we serve, ever.
We work with women, men, and children who have been placed in empty social housing after leaving an abusive situation.
We support families who have lost everything due to fire or other emergencies and need to start again.
We make sure children have a bed to sleep in, clothes to wear, and the basics they need - on the very first night.
We currently serve Wolverhampton and surrounding areas. If you are outside this area, please still get in touch and we will do our best to help or signpost you to a local organisation.
We work through referrals from housing officers, social workers, domestic abuse key workers, and support organisations. If you are a professional working with a family in need, get in touch with us directly. If you are a family member or friend, you can also contact us on behalf of someone who needs help.
Once we receive a referral, we respond quickly. We will discuss what the family needs and what we have available. Our aim is always to respond within 24 hours - because we know that when a family is in crisis, they cannot wait.
We match the family's needs to our available stock and arrange delivery to their new home. Everything is provided free of charge - there is no cost, no means test, and no lengthy waiting list.
As well as delivering household essentials, we can help connect families with other local support services, community projects, and organisations that may be able to help with other needs.
We provide whatever a family needs from our available stock. Everything is checked before delivery to make sure it is clean and in good condition. All items are provided completely free of charge.
